Friends for Nepal

is a group of young – and young at heart – individualists and friends, who work voluntarily with a lot of love and enthusiasm, to give a helping hand to the some of poorest people and children in this world, in Nepal.

Friends for Nepal see their main task in supporting village structures in close cooperation with the local population. In this way, rural exodus can be stopped and replaced by an intact and fruitful infrastructure.

As our initial project, Friends for Nepal started to build a school according to anthroposophic criteria, creating jobs for the village population and providing a point of contact for the entire village and their problems. This school in Lama Gaon is now educating 120 children from 1st to 8th grade, aiming at 200 pupils up to 8th grade when the construction is entirely finished.

Since the terrible earthquake in April 2015 the project and tasks have become numerous, but also many achievements can be taken count of:

First of all disaster relief on location since day one of the earthquake by providing food, drinking water, blankets, tents and shelter, and within 3 months the first house building projects for poor families who had lost all their belongings and shelter, could be completed.

Further projects since 2015:

Restoration of another school to save it from being closed down
Restoration and inauguration of a medical center for the village Lama Gaon
Setup of a drinking water system, also including remoter communities…
These achievements are only possible thanks to the strong effort of our members and volunteers in Austria and on location in Nepal.

Friends for Nepal especially needs your help for the following areas:

Sponsorship for individual children – to give a chance for a better future
Building component sponsorship, such as class rooms, medical or energy producing equipment, transportation means – any investment of a larger scale.
Building brick sponsorship – any donations on a regular basis or even separately
Volunteer work in Austria or on location in Nepal
Donation boxes – Do you have a place for a donation box in your store / public office?
Fair trade from Nepal:
We wish you all the happiness in the world, and hope that our cause and efforts connect us with you from our heart to yours.

In Gratitude and Humility,
Tom Stuppner
President of Friends for Nepal
